Did you Know Home Care Provides:

  • Assessment and Coordination: this is an assessment for eligibility for home care services and long term care.  Client Care Coordinators (CCC) set up services for clients which may include personal care, homemaking or meals on wheels.  CCC’s also arrange for respite care in the home or facility.
  • Personal care such as assistance with bathing and dressing
  • Home management including basic cleaning, laundry, meal preps, meals on wheels, respite and palliative care.
  • A variety of nursing services with a physician’s order such as treatments, wound care, home IV therapy, medication assistance, blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Assessment for home oxygen therapy.
  • Adult wellness clinics, basic and advanced foot care, teaching of self-care to clients and families.
  • Assisting individuals post operatively or post hospital discharge.
  • Referrals to other agencies such as support groups, Dietitian, Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy and Mental Health.
  • Volunteer services – meal delivery, running errands, transportation
  • Equipment Rental – each home care office has equipment for rental/loan for short term use such as walkers, commode chairs, bath seats. For long term needs, equipment is requisitioned from Saskatchewan Abilities Council.
  • There is no charge for assessment, coordination, nursing and volunteer services through home care.
  • Clients are charged an amount per hour, for the first ten hours, as set out by the Ministry of Health. Clients who use more than this may apply for a subsidy from Saskatchewan Health. For detailed information and specific costs, you can contact their local home care office.

If you, your family or friends feel that these services would be of benefit, contact the Home Care Office in your area and request an assessment. If you prefer, a relative or friend can phone on your behalf.
